I picked pendant lights through Wisdom Homes (Beacon Lighting range). In hindsight, even though i liked them, i realised i chose them out of convenience. And if i was staying true to myself, i probably would not have picked them. The only ones we kept were the Powder Room and Ensuite pendant lights. I actually really like them a lot!
In addition to deleting the pendant lights, i deleted some items, added a few and moved some power points around. This incurred an Administration Fee. I get why builder's charge this fee - i can imagine people like me making unlimited changes! It feels like the Admin Fee is hefty, but it is what it is and it's probably a small price to pay in the end to get what you want. I don't like to settle just for the sake of it. So i had to get this right.
A few weeks ago, i did a mock furniture and appliance layout and i discovered a power point was not in the right corner! This made me scrutinise every inch and corner of the Electrical Plan.
I couldn't stop apologising to our Consultant as i was being extremely pedantic - down to the measurements and placement of power points and how far from the wall they should be! I typed up all my requests on a word document - she must think it was overkill because i even did diagrams (biggest nerd - an email, in my opinion just did not suffice!).
Remember those "must have" ceiling fans in every room? I deleted them! This was a tough decision and i had to sleep on it and asked the guys on the forum for feedback. In the end, i decided to delete it. I was worried about ceiling heights upstairs and how the fans might impact the overall feel and space. I know that when we made the decision to add them at our initial consult, we had functionality in mind. However, we also have ducted air conditioning and our house is not massive by any means so i thought the aircon was going to be more than enough. It will be really powerful too, given the size of the rooms.
A little part of me believes that deep down, i really wanted to make my Post Handover List as little as possible and ceiling fans were just an added thing to do (it probably sounds silly, i know - or even lazy!) In the end, i was happy with deleting them and i guess that's what matters. I hate the feeling of second guessing my decisions. I've been doing that for the past few months and after signing off on the FINAL Electrical Quote & Plan, i was rather pleased with myself! Not only do i have the opportunity to find the PERFECT feature pendants, but i also feel good about my changes in the end!
